Outdoor Hobbies You Can Foster in (and around) Your Hot Tub

Posted by Kris Kemp on

While your hot tub can facilitate conversation and aid your health through hydrotherapy, it’s also a great place to foster some new outdoor activities. Here are a few such hobbies that go hand in hand with your hot tub:

Astronomy
Take an after-dark dip in your hot tub and spend some time studying the stars, planets, and other celestial bodies. Pick up the latest issue of Sky & Telescope Magazine for a current naked-eye star chart, and if you like what you see up there, invest in a telescope when the time is right.

Bird Watching
Keep a bird guide and a pair of binoculars within proximity of your hot tub, and get ready to learn all about your local avian species. When you see a winged creature, take note of its size, shape, sounds, coloring, and behavior. Consult the bird guide or a comparable smartphone app (carefully so you don’t drop them in the tub!) and familiarize yourself with the flying fauna.

Meditation
As the water swirls around you, attain inner peace by practicing mindful meditation. Begin by taking five deep breaths and focusing on subtle sensations around you. Quiet your mind and develop a sense of equanimity. Balance.

Reading
Immerse yourself in warm water and a compelling story when you start reading from your Jacuzzi® Hot Tub. Just make sure to keep your book, magazine, or e-reader out of the water. You can even round up a few fellow bookworms and host a hot tub book club, or stream an audiobook through your hot tub’s BLUEWAVE® Stereo System if you’d rather give your eyes a rest.

Yoga
In practice for thousands of years, yoga is a low impact form of exercise that can benefit by nearly anyone of any age. The hot tub’s warm and soothing water will relax your muscles and make you even more limber before your practice begins. Plus, the stress-relieving properties provided by all Jacuzzi® Hot Tubs will quickly put you in the right state of mind.
